Dear Sir/Madam,

I wish to make a formal complaint about the conduct of Hodkin and Company
Solicitors of East Grinstead.

To explain my complaint I will provide some background information:

A few years ago my sister was recruited by the Church of Scientology. I
because deeply worried when I read about this organisation's practices and
tried to counsel her away from the organisation through dicsussing the
organisation's history and beliefs with her. I had read that Scientology
is a dangerous cult that uses psychological coercion and mind control
techniques on its members, and I wanted my sister to know the facts that
she is prevented from knowing by the organisation.

Prior to the transmission of the TV programme "The Big Story" on 20 July
1995, I sent the enclosed leaflet to friends and family. This leaflet was
proofed by legal advisors and the only quotations that were used had been
published and never contested in court. This approach was adopted, because
of Scientology's history of litigation (see enclosed).

In the week leading up to this programme, my wife and I were subjected to
what we believe was a campaign of harassment by the solicitor Hodkin and
Co. This solicitor acts for the Scientology organisation and is himself a
Scientologist.

On 5th July a man came to our house and said to my wife that he was doing
a legal investigation on behalf of Hodkin and Co, acting for the Church of
Scientology and that he would like to speak to me. He waved a few leaflets
around including the Big Story leaflet (enclosed), and asked for our
comments. We told him to go away and the man ran to his car and drove off
at speed. My wife was very upset and afraid, and she phoned the police but
they said they could not assist.

At 11.30 that night a letter was posted through the door (enclosed). The
man delivering this ran away, jumped into his car and again drove off at
speed. It was very intimidating. Understandably, we found it hard to
sleep and felt very worried for some time after. We received the second
letter on the 15th of July 1995 (enclosed).

The contents of both letter seem to me to demonstrate that this solicitor
is using the law to intimidate me.

As a concerned relative, I have a right to express lawfully my worried and
opinions and I feel that the actions of this solicitor are unprofessional
and must violate his professional code. I also consider that as a member
of the Scientology organistion, he is not fully able to act as an arbiter
of the law.

Scientology's "Fair Game policy" states that opponents to Scientology "may
be tricked, sued or lied to or destroyed", and "the Law can be used very
easily to harass" (see enclosure).

It can be proven that Hodkin is a Scientologist and as such he will know
the Fair Game policy very well. I cannot see how it is possible for a
solicitor to carry out his duties with honesty and integrity if he is
involved in this organisation.

Yours faithfully,
